The Mystery of the 40th Week (October 1-7)

0

Welcome to the 40th week of the year! The 40th week is the fifth week in the sixth seven weeks, or sixth 49 days, of the year. The Bible keys for unlocking the mystery of the 40th week are the fifth day of creation narrative, the 40th book and chapters of the Bible, and the 5th three chapters (13-15) of the sixth book of the Bible.

Week 40 is a fifth day of creation week. On the fifth day, God made abundance of living creatures; the sea creatures to fill the waters and the birds of the air to fly across the firmament. He made swimmers and flyers. The fifth day was the beginning of flesh and blood on planet earth. It was also the beginning of motion and voice-sound in creation. It was also the beginning of blessings on creation. God never blessed creation until the fifth season. On the fifth day, He blessed the living creatures with fruitfulness and multiplication.

The things God did on the fifth day gives clue to what the evil one has in mind for the season. God made living creatures because the evil one plans death. God made flesh and blood because the enemy wants disembodied spirits to dominate the season. God put creatures in the water because the enemy wants to send fire to cause destructions in the season. Water and fire are opposites. God made the creatures in abundance because the enemy wants to attack with scarcity. God made the creatures free to move because the thought of the evil one concerning the season is stagnation and bondage. God equipped the creatures with sensory perception because the enemy wants to strike unnoticed and rob the earth through insensitivity. God imputed balance into the creatures (the fins of sea creatures and wings of the birds) because the enemy thinks injustice and inequity in this season. God blessed on this day because the enemy intends to spread curses. God blessed with fruitfulness and multiplication because the enemy wants to plague with barrenness and decimation. The fifth day of creation narrative reveals that Week 40 is a time to stand up against schemes of the enemy causing fire disasters, disease, death, bondage, stagnation, barrenness, scarcity, decimation, evil surprises, and curses. It is a season to strengthen your spiritual sensitivity for safety, survival, and success.

Week 40 is a 40th-chapters-of-the-Bible week. The 40th season is for the manifestation of God in the affairs of men. In Genesis 40, God manifested Himself through Joseph to interpret the dreams of Pharaoh’s servants. Joseph told them that “interpretations belong to God”; yet it came through him. He was Emmanuel in that prison. In Exodus 40, the glory of God filled the tabernacle in the form of cloud; and Moses could not enter the tabernacle of meeting. In Job 40, the servant of God laid his hands in his mouth and said he would not speak again. He gave up the floor so God would have His way.  In Psalm 40, the psalmist testifies of God’s intervention and deliverance following a season of waiting. Isaiah 40 says, “Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong hand, and His arm shall rule for Him; Behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him. [11] He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young” (Isaiah 40:10-11). In Jeremiah 40, the prophet was set free to choose where to live. In this chapter, God sent a savior, Johanan, to Gedaliah; to save his life by revealing the plot of the Ammonites to assassinate him; but he did not believe him. He rejected the truth. He lacked spiritual sensitivity. The 40th season is a season of freedom and salvation for those who believe. The 40th is a season of revelation and faith. It is not a season of rationalizations. Sensitivity in the spirit is key to succeeding in the 40th season. In Ezekiel 40, the prophet began to receive a revelation of the Jerusalem and new temple. God comes in the 40th season; so, it is necessary to prepare the way for His coming. The 40th season is a time to see into the spirit realm. This vision came in the 25th year of Ezekiel’s captivity; and in the 14th year after Jerusalem was captured; but it is recorded in the 40th chapter for our learning.

Week 40 is a 40th-book-of-the-Bible week. The Gospel according to Matthew is the 40th book of the Bible. It is also the beginning of the New Testament. This simply shows that the 40th is the point of New Beginning. The 40th is the boundary that blocks and cuts off the old. That is where ‘the old’ hands over to ‘the new’. That is the mystery of fasts that end on the 40th day. In the 40th book of the Bible, Jesus is called ‘Emmanuel’; “God with us”. The 40th book showed the ministry of John the Baptist and Jesus to be the fulfillment of prophecies. The 40th season is the beginning of restoration. It is the season of God’s manifestation in the affairs of men. The 40th book of the Bible has 28th chapters. Each day of the 40th week would express 4 chapters of the book. From manifestation in 1-4 to modeling in 5-8 to miracles in 9-12 to maintenance in 13-16 to molding in 17-20 to meditations in 21-24 to multiplication in 25-28.

Week 40 is a Joshua 13-15 week. Joshua is the sixth book of the Bible and is applicable to the sixth 49 days of the year. The fifth 3 chapters of the sixth book of the Bible is applicable to the fifth week in the sixth 49 days (7 weeks) of the year. In these three chapters, Israelites began to receive inheritance in the Promised Land. In the 13th and 14th chapters, Joshua mapped out and divided the land among the tribes. Caleb, of the tribe of Judah, received his inheritance in the 14th chapter. The tribe of Judah received her inheritance in the 15th chapter. Week 40 is for allocations! The ‘big battle’ is over. It is time to begin to take your portion in the year. The 40th is time to begin sharing the booty. This agrees with what is written in Isaiah 40:1-2. It says, “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” Says your God. [2] “Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, That her warfare is ended, That her iniquity is pardoned; For she has received from the LORD’s hand Double for all her sins.” The war is over!

The number ’40’ and ‘the 40th’ are not the same. It is easy to confuse the two but they are not the same. The number ’40’ is summative; but the 40th is about sequence, rank, or position. There’s a lot in the Bible about the number ’40’. Moses fasted 40 days in the wilderness. Israel journeyed 40 years through the wilderness.  Saul, David, and Solomon, each, ruled Israel for 40 years. Elijah journeyed 40 days in the strength of one meal to get to where he would hear God. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness after His baptism and the Voice that came to Him from Heaven. This is the 40th week of the year. By the end of this week, we would have gone through 40 weeks in the year. What is it about ’40’?  Completing 40 weeks in the year is a prophetic statement that the journey is completed; and it is time to enter into the purpose of the journey.

What about the 40th? It is the finishing point. That is WHEN the journey or count is completed. Without the 40th, the journey is not complete. The 40th is where God comes to meet man and take over from man. That is where He comes to show His power and glory. The 40th season is the season of God and His Word. That is when the word of God is fulfilled. In Genesis 40, Joseph gave a word to Pharaoh’s Butler and Baker; and the word was fulfilled in the same chapter. In this chapter, Joseph was transformed from man’s messenger and slave into God’s Messenger. In Exodus 40, it is recorded, seven times, that Moses did everything “as the Lord had commanded him”. When he did as God commanded, God also fulfilled His word by coming to dwell in the Tabernacle as He said in Exodus 25:8-9: “And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it”. When the glory of God filled the Tabernacle in Exodus 40, Moses could not go in. God takes over from man in the 40th. Israel entered Canaan in the 40th year of journeying from Egypt. Psalm 40 is about the fulfillment of God’s word. Psalm 40:1-3 says, “I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. [2] He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. [3] He has put a new song in my mouth- Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the LORD”. The 40th book of the Bible makes references to the Old Testament to show that events in the life and ministry of Jesus fulfilled prophecy. The appearance of Jesus in the book of Matthew was a fulfillment of prophecy concerning the Messiah. In that book, Jesus said He came to fulfill the Law; not to destroy it. In the 40th book of the Bible also, John the Baptist fulfilled Isaiah 40. Isaiah 40 tells us that God’s word stands forever.

THE NATIONS AND THE 40TH: Ronald Reagan was the 40th President of the United States. His administration initiated steps that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall. Winston Churchill became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 1940 – succeeding the Neville Chamberlain (the 40th PM) as the 41st PM. He led the United Kingdom through the Second World War. The death and destruction that come to men in the 40th season happen through spiritual insensitivity. The world shouldn’t have been at war in 1940. The 40th year of the 20th century should have been a season of comfort as Isaiah 40 reveals. If we do not man the gates of time, the enemy will pass through them. Nigeria became independent in the 40th week of 1960; and her 40th year (2000) was the first year of her transition and return to democracy – with Olusegun Obasanjo as President. In the 40th year of Nigeria, a sad new testament began in Nigeria with the introduction of Sharia law in Kaduna State. Religious riots that lasted three months (February 21 – May 23) broke out in Kaduna State and claimed 2000 – 5000 lives.

This week, get ready to see the glory of God and redefinitions of the old. What is of man in this year will end this 40th week! As the stripes of Jesus ended with the 39th, I declare that the season of stripes in the year has passed with the 39th week. Get ready to see God’s word fulfilled in your life and in the nations. Get ready to receive a confirmation of God’s word to you. This week, let your spirit rise above your flesh; exalt revelation above reasoning; faith above feeling and sight; and life above law. Happy 40th week!
