The Mystery of the Sixth Week (February 5-11)

Welcome to the sixth week of the year. This is the  second ‘6th’ in the year. The first was the 6th day. The others are the 6th month and the 6th seven weeks (49 days). The Bible patterns for understanding the 6th week are 1) the narrative of the sixth day of creation; 2) the sixth book of the Bible, 3) the sixth chapters of the Bible, 4) sixth seven books of the Bible, 5) the sixth seven chapters of the Bible, and 6) the sixth seven chapters of Genesis.

The sixth week is a sixth day of creation week. It is a season to remember what God did on the 6th day creation. On the sixth day of creation, God completed and perfected the creation of flesh. 1. He created land animals from the earth. 2. He formed man’s from the ground, breathed into man and man became a living soul. He made man in His image and after His likeness. 3. He gave man the privilege of naming all the animals. God named the creatures of the other days. But man named every other thing God created on the sixth day – including Woman. 4. He formed woman from man and joined them to become husband and wife. God instituted human marriage on the sixth day. 5. He blessed man with fruitfulness and multiplication – to fill the earth and subdue it. 6. He gave man authority to rule and have dominion over all moving creatures on earth and in the sea. 7. He gave vegetation-food to man. He revealed His provisions to man. 8. He evaluated everything He had done and saw that they were indeed very good.

The sixth season is a ‘use what you have’ season. On the sixth day, God used what He had made to make other things. He formed man from the ground; and formed woman from man. He used man to rule the world. It is a season to exercise rule and dominion; and execute judgment against rebellion. It is a season of love and relationships. It is a season of work. It is a season of multiplication and increase. It is a season of connecting food to the eater. It is a season to reflect the image and likeness of the Creator. It is season to correct and perfect things that are not good or in order. It is a general evaluation season – leading to approval or rejection, regrets or rejoicing, blessing or cursing, deliverance, or destruction, multiplication or decimation.

The sixth week is a book of Joshua week. The book of Joshua is about battles for inheritance. It was a season of victories and possessing possessions for Israel; but a season of defeat, death, and losses for the Amorites. It is who you are that determines how you fare in seasons. In the book of Joshua, Israel crossed the Jordan miraculously to enter the Promised Land. In the book of Joshua, Israel battled the seven nations of the Amorites, by divine wisdom and direction, and turned their kingdoms into the kingdom of God. Israel overthrew the people and their idols; and instead established the worship of the True God. The book of Joshua has 24 chapters. If you divide 24 chapters of Joshua for the seven days of the week, you would have three chapters for each day and a remainder of three chapters. So, we would assign three chapters to each of the first six days; and then leave the remaining six chapters for the seventh day. Each section would apply to the day of the week that corresponds to it.

The sixth week is a sixth-seven-books-of-the-Bible week. It is also a sixth chapters of the Bible day. The sixth seven books of the Bible are Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Matthew, Mark, and Luke. The first four books are books of judgment but the last three books are books of mercy. The first four books are books of the Old Testament; but the last three books form the beginning of the New Testament. The sixth season is for transiting from the old to the new; from judgment to mercy, from works to faith, from Law to grace, and from humanity to divinity. In the first three books of the New Testament, both John the Baptist and Jesus of Nazareth began to announce that “the Kingdom of God is at hand. The sixth week is a Kingdom-of-God week.

Week 6 is a Genesis 36-42 week. This 6th seven chapters of Genesis is about Esau’s family and Jacob’s family. The story of Esau is in Genesis 36. In Genesis 37, Joseph dreams but is sold by His brothers. Genesis 38 is about Judah’s family and the story leading to the birth of Perez. In Genesis 39, Joseph’s story in Egypt begins as a slave in Portiphar’s house until the 42nd chapter when he had become ruler in Egypt and saw his brothers coming from Canaan to buy grain in Egypt. He saw his dreams come true as his brothers bowed before him without knowing he was the one. May this week be, for you, a week of realizing dreams.

PRAYERS FOR THE SIXTH WEEK

O Father, make my sixth week to be like the book of Joshua to the children of Israel. Let this week be a week of realizing dreams and promises.

O Father, grant me miraculous victories and triumphs in the battles of this week.Lead me to cross the Jordan, to see the collapse of great walls of hindrance, and to possess the promised possessions.

O Father, overthrow any spirit or man that is sitting over my inheritance. This week, overthrow wicked forces in our nation and in the nations.

O Father, be gracious to me and deliver me from the disasters of this week. Deliver me from troubles and challenges that are too great for me.

O Father, help me by your Spirit to walk in obedience and not in rebellion.
