Welcome to Day 88! The 88th day is the fourth day of the thirteenth week. It is also the 39th day in the second 49 days of the year. The 88th day is a fourth season day. It is March 29 in a clear year and March 28 in a leap year. The Bible keys to understanding the 88th day are the fourth day of creation narrative, the 88th psalm, and the fourth four chapters of the thirteenth book of the Bible.
Day 88 is a fourth day of creation day. God make the luminaries on the fourth day of creation ‘because’ the fourth season is a ‘fight-back’ season for the kingdom of darkness. In the fourth season, the kingdom of darkness fights the godly with temptations, trials, afflictions, and troubles. The trials and pressures that come in the fourth season makes the season one of complaints and questions. God makes the fourth season to be ‘light and illumination season’ for His people. It is a season to triumph with light – light from God’s word, light from visions and revelations, and light from study and wise counsel. The light may help us to avoid or escape what is coming; or to understand what is going on. When, by light, you understand what is going on, you would have fewer complaints and questions.
Day 88 is a First Chronicles 13-16 day in the 13th week. The fourth four chapters of the thirteenth book of the Bible is applicable to the fourth day of the thirteenth week. In the thirteenth chapter David made a failed attempt to bring the Ark to Jerusalem. It ended in the death of Uzzah; because the Ark was not carried properly according to the Law. In the fourteenth chapter, David established himself at Jerusalem and defeated the Philistines. In the fifteenth chapter, David brought the Ark properly to Jerusalem. in the 16th chapter, the Ark was brought into the tabernacle; David gave thanks to God in songs, and appointed song-ministers to worship regularly and minister to the Lord before the Ark. The Lord is the Light of Israel. Living in the presence of the Lord is the key to safety and preservation. The presence of the Lord is our Refuge in time of trouble. Day 88 is for ensuring the presence of God. It is a day to bring in the Ark into the City of God and the House of God. You are the House of God. Let the Lord possess His house in you.
Day 88 is a Psalm 88 day. The 88th psalm bears witness that the 88th season is a season of trials. It is a psalm of complaints and questions to God about the troubles of the psalmist. In the first two verses of the psalm, he appeals to God to be heard.
Psalm 88:1-2 says, “O LORD, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You. [2] Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry.”
He repeats this complaint in the ninth and thirteenth verses:
“…Lord, I have called daily upon You; I have stretched out my hands to You”.
Psalm 88:13 NKJV
[13] But to You I have cried out, O LORD, And in the morning my prayer comes before You.
THE TROUBLES
From the third verse, the psalmist te
lls his experiences (Psalm 88:3-9):
[3] For my soul is full of troubles,
And my life draws near to the grave.
[4] I am counted with those who go down to the pit;
I am like a man who has no strength,
[5] Adrift among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And who are cut off from Your hand.
[6] You have laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the depths.
[7] Your wrath lies heavy upon me, And You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah
[8] You have put away my acquaintances far from me;
You have made me an abomination to them; I am shut up, and I cannot get out;
[9] My eye wastes away because of affliction. LORD, I have called daily upon You; I have stretched out my hands to You.
FURTHER COMPLAINTS
(Psalm 88:15-18)
[15] I have been afflicted and ready to die from my youth;
I suffer Your terrors;
I am distraught.
[16] Your fierce wrath has gone over me; Your terrors have cut me off. [17] They came around me all day long like water; They engulfed me altogether.
[18] Loved one and friend You have put far from me, And my acquaintances into darkness.
QUESTIONS
From the tenth verse, the psalmist questions God (Psalm 88:10-12,14):
[10] Will You work wonders for the dead?
Shall the dead arise and praise You? Selah
[11] Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in the place of destruction?
[12] Shall Your wonders be known in the dark? And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
[14] LORD, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?
Day 88 is Obadiah – Malachi day in the 13th week. Every week is like a journey through the Bible. Every week has an Old Testament side and a New Testament side. The first four days of the week belong to the Old Testament side and express the 39 books of the Old Testament. The remaining three days of the week constitute the New Testament side and express the 27 books of the New Testament. The fourth day of the week is the day closing the Old Testament side of the week; and expresses the last nine books of the Old Testament. Today is the bridge-day leading to the New Testament side of the week. The books of ‘the minor prophets’ are part of the last 9 books of the O.T. They are about judgment and promises of restoration. Today is a day of the dominion of the Voice of God in the nations. Let His Voice dominate in your life.
DECREE AND DECLARE: God made us in His image and likeness to rule, have dominion, and impose His will on seasons; as He did with the seven days of creation. He decreed what He wanted for each day. We are to decree what is revealed concerning each day. Today, decree the downfall of the wicked and the lifting and establishment of the just. Today, prophesy an end to something in your life, family, business, community, and nation. Today, raise your voice against wickedness and oppression wherever it is found. Prophesy! Prophesy!! Prophesy!!! Today, also pray to be more sensitive in the spirit; to pick up necessary signals that would help you triumph over the enemy and keep darkness away. Today, pray to be delivered from falling into temptation. Pray to be preoccupied with the person of God; and to be focused on His mandate and His revealed purpose for your life. Be careful to weigh every decision in light of God’s purpose for your life; and God’s purpose for the time. Today, proclaim an end to woes and declare the dawn of a new day.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to escape the traps and arrows of the wicked one today. Draw me into your presence and let me find comfort and strength before you.
Happy 88th day!
