Day 32: The Mystery of February 1

Welcome to the 32nd day of the year. Day 32 is February 1. Day 32 is the fourth day of the fifth week. This is the first major ’32nd’ in the year. The other major ’32nd’ is the 32nd week. The Bible patterns for understanding the 32nd day are 1) the fourth day of creation narrative; 2) the 32nd book of the Bible; 3) the 32nd chapters of the Bible; 4) the 4th five chapters of Deuteronomy, the fifth book of the Bible.

Day 32 is the first day of the second month. The book of Numbers vegan with an instruction God gave Moses on the first day of the second month. The instruction God gave Moses was to take a census of all who are able to go to war in Israel. Numbers 1:1-3 says, “Now the LORD spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying: [2] “Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, every male individually, [3] from twenty years old and above-all who are able to go to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their armies”. God was telling him to prepare for war. Day 32 is a day to prepare to battle forces of darkness and road-blocking enemies.

Day 32 is a fourth day of creation day. On the fourth day of creation, God made guiding lights – the sun, the moon, and the stars. They were to be for lights, divide the darkness from the light, rule the day and the night, and be for signs and for seasons. Although God created light and day and night on the first, creating light-holders on the fourth day indicates that guiding lights are necessary in the fourth season. That is the reason God says, in Psalm 32:8, “I will guide you with my eye…” Guidance is very important today. W

Day 32 is a Deuteronomy 16-20 day. This is the fourth five chapters of Deuteronomy. The 16th chapter s a review of the laws concerning the Passover, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. The chapter closes with a charge to administer justice in the land and shun idolatry. The 17th chapter continues with matters of idol worship and justice; and ends with guiding principles for kings in Israel. The 18th chapter is about the portion of priests, the prohibition of sorcery and other wicked customs, and the promise of a prophet like Moses and the warning against false prophets. The 19th chapter is about cities of refuge for the man-slayer, respect for landmarks and boundaries, and the law concerning witnesses in trials. The 20th chapter is about the principles governing warfare. Deuteronomy 16-20 shows that the 32nd day is a day of instructors and guidance.

Day 32 is a book-of-Jonah day. Jonah is the 32nd book of the Bible; and is applicable to the 32nd day of the year. In this book, God guided and sent Jonah to Nineveh to be a guiding light to them. The  prophet chose to hide the light from Nineveh. He went to Tarshish instead of going to Nineveh; thereby sinning against God. Trouble ran after him until he repented. He went to Nineveh and preached and the people repented. Jonah was angry that God forgave Nineveh. God worked on his attitude. Rebellion against God is heavy and costly in the 32nd season; but it is a season for inward work. It is a season of inward purification.

Day 32 is a 32nd chapters-of-the-Bible day. The 32nd chapters reveal that the 32nd season is a season of inward spiritual repairs. Jacob became Israel in Genesis 32. In Exodus 32, Aaron made the Golden Calf for Israel. He failed the test. They wanted to replace Moses and God and sinned; but ran into trouble. Moses had gone to Mountain to receive the Law and Light for the nation. The breaking of the tablets of the Law meant turning off the light of the nation. People were killed and God also visited the people with plague. In Numbers 32, the Reubenites and Gadites requested to remain on the side before Jordan. They did not want to cross the Jordan. Moses did not like it much; and warned them. They eventually reached an agreement; and still went where they did not want to go. In the 32nd season, people are tempted to choose their own way and give half-hearted loyalty to God. In Deuteronomy 32, Moses spoke to Israel in a song and reminded them of their stubbornness before God; and how that by running from God, they often ran into the anger of God. After speaking to Israel, God commanded Moses to go up to Mount Abarim and die there. The law and justice demand satisfaction in the 32nd season; because sin is remembered in that season. Moses spoke of God’s vengeance in this chapter. In Second Chronicles 32, Sennacherib came against Judah and boasted against God. He overstepped his boundaries. His army was destroyed and his children killed him. Hezekiah received prophecy of death but cried out to God and was healed. He became proud. He received Babylonian visitors that came to see him. He was tested but failed the test. Hezekiah died in this chapter. In Job 32, Elihu, a young man in the company of Job’s friends, who had restrained himself from speaking, because of his age, spoke out – confronting both the three friends of Job and Job himself. He eventually did what he did not want to do. He had five chapters of uninterrupted rebuke-speech. No one else spoke that long at once. In Psalm 32, the psalmist speaks, from experience, of the blessedness of being forgiven. Sin is costly. That is the reason Psalm 32:1-6 says, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit”. When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters They shall not come near him”. Isaiah 32 is about a purging distress that would come upon God’s people. God’s people failed the test. Disaster comes on the complacent in the 32nd season. In Jeremiah 32, the prophet was shut up in prison because the king did not believe that what the prophet said would happen. It happened. Then a seeming contradiction occurs. God commands Jeremiah to buy a field from his uncle as faith-proof that the captives of Babylon would return to the land. Jeremiah passed the faith-test. Obedience to divine instruction is a blessing in the 32nd season. God assured Jeremiah that although the people will go into captivity and the land will become desolate, He would restore them to the land.  Mercy is very loud in the 32nd season!

Ezekiel 32 is the prophet’s lamentation for Egypt’s desolation. Egypt failed the humility-test.

Day 32 is Obadiah – Malachi day in the fifth week. Every week is like a journey through the Bible. Every week has an Old Testament side and a New Testament side. The first four days of the week belong to the Old Testament side and express the 39 books of the Old Testament. The remaining three days of the week constitute the New Testament side and express the 27 books of the New Testament. The fourth day of the week is the day closing the Old Testament side of the week; and expresses the last nine books of the Old Testament. Today is the bridge-day leading to the New Testament side of the week. The books of ‘the minor prophets’ are part of the last 9 books of the O.T. They are about judgment and promises of restoration. Today is a day of the dominion of the Voice of God in the nations. Let His Voice dominate in your life.

DECREE AND DECLARE: God made us in His image and likeness to rule, have dominion, and impose His will on seasons; as He did with the seven days of creation. He decreed what He wanted for each day. We are to decree what is revealed concerning each day. Today, decree the downfall of the wicked and the lifting and establishment of the just. Today, prophesy an end to something in your life, family, business, community, and nation. Today, raise your voice against wickedness and oppression wherever it is found. Prophesy! Prophesy!! Prophesy!!! Today, also pray to be more sensitive in the spirit; to pick up necessary signals that would help you triumph over the enemy and keep darkness away. Today, pray to be delivered from falling into temptation. Pray to be preoccupied with the person of God; and to be focused on His mandate and His revealed purpose for your life. Be careful to weigh every decision in light of God’s purpose for your life; and God’s purpose for the time. Today, proclaim an end to woes and declare the dawn of a new day. Today, trust the grace of God. Sin is a sinker in the 32nd season. It is a great blessing, life jacket, and safety belt to have peace with God in this season. Happy 32nd day!

On this day in 2019, God delivered the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and 11 others from perishing in a plane crash when their helicopter crash-landed in Kogi State.
