The seventh month is the 4-week season following the sixth month. In the global (Gregorian) calendar, this is the 31-day month of July. In the Hebrew calendar, the seventh month is the 30-day month of Tishri that falls September – October in the Gregorian calendar. The month of July is where Tammuz (the fourth biblical month) takes over from Sivan (the third biblical month).
Nations, states, organizations, families, and individuals may also count their seventh months from the day of their birth. All seventh months have common characteristics. Biblical patterns for understanding the seventh month are the seventh day of creation narrative, the seventh book and seventh chapters of the Bible, the Bible books and chapters corresponding to the weeks and days in the month; and Bible passages mentioning the seventh month. The seventh month opens the second half of the year. The seventh month is a special season in the year.
The seventh month is a seventh day of creation month. God did not create anything on the seventh day. Five things make the seventh day of creation very special. The first is that the account is separated from the accounts of the previous six days. The account of the first six days of creation is in Genesis 1. The account of the seventh day is in Genesis 2. The seventh is distinguished and special. Secondly, God ended His work of creation of the seventh day. The seventh season is an end-point. It is stop-time. It is finishing time. It is a season of completion and conclusion. He did not create anything on the seventh day. He made it a no-more-work day. The seventh month Isa time to say, “It is done”. “It is Finished”. Thirdly, God rested on the seventh day. He rested from work and refreshed. The seventh month is a season of resting and refreshing. The rest of the seventh is more about getting rest from troubles and afflictions than it is about sitting or lying down to sleep. Jesus healed many people on the Sabbath (seventh day). Fourthly, God blessed the seventh day. That was the first and last day He blessed. The blessing of the seventh day is also on the seventh month. Fifthly, God sanctified the seventh day. He made it holy. The seventh Hebrew month is a month of religious festivals (Leviticus 23: 23-44).
The seventh month is a Book of Judges month. Going through the seventh month of the year is like journeying through the seventh book of the Bible. The book of Judges is the seventh book of the Bible and is applicable to the seventh month of the year. In the seventh book of Judges, God often handed Israel over to her enemies because of sin. Alignment with God in the seventh season is the surest key to safety and peace in the season. In the seventh book of the Bible, God also raised Judges to deliver Israel from her enemies when they repent and cry out to Him. The seventh month is a time to secure divine intervention through repentance and prayer. In 2 Chronicles 7:13-14, God says, “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, [14] if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land”.
The sixth month is a Song of Solomon 6 – Ezekiel 43 season. Going through the sixth month of the year is like journeying from the sixth chapter of Song of Solomon to the 43rd chapter of Ezekiel. It is the same as going from the fifth day of the 22nd week to the sixth day of the 26th week. As a prophetic season, the sixth month is Isaiah – Ezekiel season. This is a month of judgment and overthrows by the word of the Lord.
The sixth month is a Numbers 27-Deuteronomy 26 season. The fourth book of the Bible is the guiding light for the fourth 7 weeks of the year. In a clear year, the sixth month runs from the fifth day of the fourth 49 days to the 34th day of the fourth 49 days. The sixth month falls within the fourth seven weeks of the year and expresses a significant portion of the fourth book of the Bible. The major events in the fourth book of the Bible happened within Numbers 5-26. They include the supply of manna, the prophesying 70 elders, the spying and rejection of the Promised Land, the rebellion of Korah and company, the vindication of Aaron, the failure of Moses, the death of Miriam and Aaron, the miracle of the bronze serpent, the defeat of Og and Sihon, the efforts of Balak and Balaam against Israel, and the second census. This means that we should watch against deception and overthrows. Most of the tests of the fourth seven weeks will come in the sixth month. This a season to be watchful. Watch your thoughts and words; watch your attitude to people and circumstances.
The seventh month of the year is a seventh-seven-books-of-the-Bible month. Going through the sixth month is like going through the sixth seven books of the Bible in experiences. The sixth seven nooks of the Bible are Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It is within the sixth seven books of the Bible that you cross from the Old Testament to the New Testament. The sixth month, therefore, is a season to cross over from the old narrative to the new. It is a month of experiencing fulfillment of promises and prophecies. It is a month of going from pain to gain, from war to peace, from judgment to grace and mercy, oppression to deliverance, from destruction to salvation, from despair to hope, from battles to miracles, and from sorrow to joy. This is a month of change of stories. It will not change from good to bad for you!
BIBLE PASSAGES THAT MENTION THE SIXTH MONTH
The Bible reveals eight things about the seventh month:
1. It is the month of settlement
2. It is season of purification and peace
3. It is a month of feasts and celebrations
4. It is a season of watchfulness
5. It is a season of completion
6. It is a season judgment on the wicked
7. It is a season of comfort
8. It is a season of fasting for to break yokes.
1. THE MONTH OF SETTLEMENT
Genesis 8:4
Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.
THE ARK OF GOD
1 Kings 8:1-4
Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the City of David, which is Zion. [2] Therefore all the men of Israel assembled with King Solomon at the feast in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month. [3] So all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. [4] Then they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tabernacle of meeting, and all the holy furnishings that were in the tabernacle. The priests and the Levites brought them up.
2 Chronicles 5:2-5
Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, in Jerusalem, that they might bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD up from the City of David, which is Zion. [3] Therefore all the men of Israel assembled with the king at the feast, which was in the seventh month. [4] So all the elders of Israel came, and the Levites took up the ark. [5] Then they brought up the ark, the tabernacle of meeting, and all the holy furnishings that were in the tabernacle. The priests and the Levites brought them up.
Nehemiah 7:73
So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the Nethinim, and all Israel dwelt in their cities. When the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
2. THE MONTH OF PURIFICATION AND PEACE
Leviticus 16:29
“This shall be a statute forever for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you.
3. A MONTH OF FEASTS AND CELEBRATIONS
Leviticus 23:23-25
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, [24] “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. [25] You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD.'”
Leviticus 23:33-34, 39, 41
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, [34] “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the LORD. [39] ‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the LORD for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. [41] You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
2 Chronicles 7:9-11
And on the eighth day they held a sacred assembly, for they observed the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days. [10] On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the good that the LORD had done for David, for Solomon, and for His people Israel. [11] Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD and the king’s house; and Solomon successfully accomplished all that came into his heart to make in the house of the LORD and in his own house.
Ezra 3:1-4
And when the seventh month had come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered together as one man to Jerusalem. [2] Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brethren, arose and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God. [3] Though fear had come upon them because of the people of those countries, they set the altar on its bases; and they offered burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening burnt offerings. [4] They also kept the Feast of Tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings in the number required by ordinance for each day.
4. THE MONTH OF WATCHFULNESS
2 Kings 25:22-26
Then he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor over the people who remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left. [23] Now when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah-Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, Johanan the son of Careah, Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men. [24] And Gedaliah took an oath before them and their men, and said to them, “Do not be afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.” [25] But it happened in the seventh month that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal family, came with ten men and struck and killed Gedaliah, the Jews, as well as the Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah. [26] And all the people, small and great, and the captains of the armies, arose and went to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.
5. THE MONTH OF COMPLETION
2 Chronicles 31:7-8
In the third month they began laying them in heaps, and they finished in the seventh month. [8] And when Hezekiah and the leaders came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel.
6. MONTH OF THE JUDGMENT ON THE WICKED
Jeremiah 28:15-17
Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Hear now, Hananiah, the LORD has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie. [16] Therefore thus says the LORD: ‘Behold, I will cast you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against the LORD.'” [17] So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
7. THE MONTH OF COMFORT
Haggai 2:1-9
In the seventh month, on the twenty-first of the month, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying: [2] “Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying: [3] ‘Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? In comparison with it, is this not in your eyes as nothing? [4] Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says the LORD; ‘and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,’ says the LORD, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ says the LORD of hosts. [5] ‘According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!’ [6] “For thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; [7] and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts. [8] ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts. [9] ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the LORD of hosts.”
8. A MONTH OF FASTING
Zechariah 8:18-19
Then the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying, [19] “Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘The fast of the fourth month, The fast of the fifth, The fast of the seventh, And the fast of the tenth, Shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts For the house of Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.’
