Welcome to the 123rd day of the year! Day 123 is the 25th day of the third 49 days, or the fourth day of the fourth week in the third 49 days, or the fourth day of the eighteenth week of the year. It is a fourth-season day. The key Bible patterns for understanding the day are the fourth day of creation narrative, Psalm 123, and the fourth six chapters (19-24) of the eighteenth book of the Bible.
Day 123 is fourth day of creation day in the 18th week. The fourth season is when darkness fights back to cover and overwhelm the righteous. It is a test season for the righteous. We are not to be ruled by what darkness but by what God does. God gives light to the righteous for this season. That is the reason God made the luminaries on the fourth day of creation. He created the luminaries on the fourth day because darkness ‘naturally’ comes in this season. For God’s people, the fourth season is a season to operate by divine light.
Day 123 is a Job 19-24 day in the 18th week. The fourth six chapters of the eighteenth book of the Bible is applicable to the fourth day of the eighteenth week of the year. In the 19th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th chapters, Job spoke out concerning the contempt and reproach he suffered from family, friends, employees, and acquaintances, and the emptiness of the final contemptible analysis of Zophar and Eliphaz in the 20 and 22nd chapters respectively. He says the wicked do not always suffer as Job’s friends thought and said.
Day 123 is a book of Lamentations day in the third 49 days of the year. Lamentations is the 25th book of the Bible and is applicable to the 25th day in the third 49 days. The 25th chapters of the Bible are also applicable to Day 123. In the 25th book of the Bible, Jeremiah lamented the foolishness of Judah in disregarding the word of God. Jerusalem was destroyed, the temple was burnt, lives were lost, and God’s people became captives. They sinned against God. One should watch against bad decisions on this day. On this day in 1928, a dispute between the Chinese and the Japanese caused the death about 12 Japanese civilians. The Japanese retaliated and the Chinese lost over 2000 lives in the days that followed. Rather than make Day 123 a day of lamentations, it should be made a day of jubilation by good decisions. Britain elected Margaret Thatcher as the first female Prime Minister on this day in 1979. That was good news.
Day 123 is a Psalm 123 day. Here, the psalmist is in a dark season and looks to God, intently, for intervening mercy. Psalm 123:1-2 says, “Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the LORD our God, Until He has mercy on us”.
Under the New Covenant, we are better than servants looking to their masters, or maids looking to their mistress, for mercy. God is our Father. We are His loved sons and not just His servants.
THE FOURTH SEASON AND CONTEMPT
In the fourth season, the prince of darkness attacks with scorn, contempt, shame, disgrace, humiliation, and dishonor. Darkness does not kill directly; but it frustrates.
In Psalm 123:3-4, the psalmist prays, “Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with CONTEMPT. [4] Our soul is exceedingly filled With the SCORN of those who are at ease, With the CONTEMPT of the proud.
Day 123 is Obadiah – Malachi day in the 18th week. Every week is like a journey through the Bible. Every week has an Old Testament side and a New Testament side. The first four days of the week belong to the Old Testament side and express the 39 books of the Old Testament. The remaining three days of the week constitute the New Testament side and express the 27 books of the New Testament. The fourth day of the week is the day closing the Old Testament side of the week; and expresses the last nine books of the Old Testament. Today is the bridge-day leading to the New Testament side of the week. The books of ‘the minor prophets’ are part of the last 9 books of the O.T. They are about judgment and promises of restoration. Today is a day of the dominion of the Voice of God in the nations. Let His Voice dominate in your life.
DECREE AND DECLARE: God made us in His image and likeness to rule, have dominion, and impose His will on seasons; as He did with the seven days of creation. He decreed what He wanted for each day. We are to decree what is revealed concerning each day. Today, decree the downfall of the wicked and the lifting and establishment of the just. Today, prophesy an end to something in your life, family, business, community, and nation. Today, raise your voice against wickedness and oppression wherever it is found. Prophesy! Prophesy!! Prophesy!!! Today, also pray to be more sensitive in the spirit; to pick up necessary signals that would help you triumph over the enemy and keep darkness away. Today, pray to be delivered from falling into temptation. Pray to be preoccupied with the person of God; and to be focused on His mandate and His revealed purpose for your life. Be careful to weigh every decision in light of God’s purpose for your life; and God’s purpose for the time. Today, proclaim an end to woes and declare the dawn of a new day.
Today, look to the Lord, our God, and Father, for His intervening mercy and favor. Do not let the contempt of men weary you. You will not see shame or disgrace. Happy 123rd day!
