Welcome to the fourth day of the year. Day 4 is the fourth day of the first week of the year. It is also the fourth day of the first month. The Bible patterns for understanding the 4th day of the year are 1) the fourth day of creation narrative; 2) the fourth book of the Bible; and 3) the fourth chapters of the books of the Bible; 4) the fourth seven books and fourth seven chapters of the Bible.
Day 4 is a fourth day of creation day in the first week of the year. On the fourth day of creation, God made the luminaries – the sun, moon, and stars – to give light on the earth, to divide the day from the night, to rule the day and night, and to be for seasons. The creation of the luminaries signified dominion of heaven over earth, organization and orderliness; and were meant to keep confusion, deception, and stumbling away. Day 4 is the middle of the week. It is the bridge to the blessing side of the week. God did not bless creation until the fifth, sixth, and seventh days.
Day 4 is a fourth-chapters-of-the-Bible day in the first week of the year. The fourth chapters of the Bible reveal ‘the fourth’ is a season of testing sand trial. It is a season of temptation. The first murder is recorded in the first fourth chapter of the Bible (Genesis 4). The adversaries of Judah showed up in the fourth chapters of Ezra and Nehemiah. The temptations of Jesus are recorded in the fourth chapters of Matthew and Luke. A wind storm rose against Jesus and His disciples in Mark 4. The early church began to face persecution in Acts 4. Spiritually, the fourth day is a hot day. Heat was born on the fourth day of creation.
Day 4 is a Genesis 22-28 day. The fourth seven chapters of Genesis are record of testing and trials. In Genesis 22, Abraham was tested; in Genesis 23, Sarah died. That must have been a trying time for Abraham. In Genesis 24, Rebekah was tested. In Genesis 25, Esau and Jacob were born; and in the same chapter, Esau sold his birthright to his younger brother for a plate of food. In Genesis 26, Isaac was tested in a season of famine. He obeyed God and prospered. In Genesis 27, Jacob stole Esau’s blessings after Rebekah and Jacob played a fast game on Isaac. In Genesis 28, Jacob escaped to Padan-Aram. The fourth day is a day of tests and temptations.
Day 4 is a book Numbers day in a book of Genesis week. Numbers is the fourth book of the Bible. Israel was tested in the fourth book of the Bible. Most of those who came out of Egyptian bondage perished in the wilderness in the book of Numbers. God screened Israel’s fighting men and their leaders in this book.
Day 4 is Obadiah – Malachi day in the first week of the year. Every week is like a journey through the Bible. Every week has an Old Testament side and a New Testament side. The first four days of the week belong to the Old Testament side and express the 39 books of the Old Testament. The remaining three days of the week constitute the New Testament side and express the 27 books of the New Testament. The fourth day of the week is the day closing the Old Testament side of the week; and expresses the last nine books of the Old Testament. Today is the bridge-day leading to the New Testament side of the week. The books of ‘the minor prophets’ are part of the last 9 books of the O.T. They are about judgment and promises of restoration. Today is a day of the dominion of the Voice of God in the nations. Let His Voice dominate in your life.
DECREE AND DECLARE: God made us in His image and likeness to rule, have dominion, and impose His will on seasons; as He did with the seven days of creation. He decreed what He wanted for each day. We are to decree what is revealed concerning each day. Today, decree the downfall of the wicked and the lifting and establishment of the just. Today, prophesy an end to something in your life, family, business, community, and nation. Today, raise your voice against wickedness and oppression wherever it is found. Decree that today is the end of the Old Testament side of the first week of the year. Prophesy! Prophesy!! Prophesy!!! Today, also pray to be more sensitive in the spirit; to pick up necessary signals that would help you triumph over the enemy and keep darkness away. Today, pray to be delivered from falling into temptation. Pray to be preoccupied with the person of God; and to be focused on His mandate and His revealed purpose for your life. Be careful to weigh every decision in light of God’s purpose for your life; and God’s purpose for the time. Today, proclaim an end to woes and declare the dawn of a new day. Today, watch your steps and decisions. The tempter might be very close. Let the word of God guide your steps. Happy fourth day of the year!
On this day, in 2019, the Cameroon Head of State, by decree, reshuffled his cabinet and appointed a new Prime minister to lead the new government in his new seven year mandate. Did he just yield to temptation? Watch your steps today. The tempter may be very close. Read Genesis 4 or any other fourth chapter of the Bible.
