The Mystery of the 34th Week (August 20-26)

Welcome to the 34th week of the year! The 34th week is the sixth week in the fifth 49 days. This is the week of August 20-26 in a Clear Year; and the week of August 19-25 in a Leap Year. It is a sixth season week. The keys to understanding the 34th week are the sixth day of creation narrative, the 34th book and chapters of the Bible, and the sixth five chapters of fifth book of the Bible (Deuteronomy).

Week 34 is a sixth day of creation week. God made man and land animals on the sixth day; but favored man greatly with headship and authority. God made man in His image and likeness and commanded man to have dominion and rule over the rest of living creatures. Those other living creatures were not made in the image and likeness of God. The beasts express wickedness; the cattle express foolishness; the creeping things express craftiness and falsehood. The sixth day of creation narrative indicate that the 34th week is a season conflict between those who bear the image of God and those who do not bear the image of God. Week 34 is for those who are on the side of God; who bear the face of God and express the heart of God. It is their week of blessings and favors. The sixth season is the season of the Lord’s battle and dominion – against those who are out of alignment with His plans and purposes. That is the reason God made man in His image and likeness and commanded man to rule and have dominion on the sixth day of creation. God reacted against ungodly humanity in Genesis 6 and against the seven Canaanite nations in Joshua, the sixth book of the Bible. This 34th week, those who are on the side of God have nothing to fear. They shall be protected and preserved. They shall be provided for and promoted. Their enemies shall fall before them. But those who pursue evil and take pleasure in wickedness shall be punished.

Week 34 is a book of Nahum week. Nahum is the 34th book of the Bible. The three-chapter book is about God’s vengeance against Nineveh (Assyria). Nahum 1:2-3 says, “God is jealous, and the LORD avenges; The LORD avenges and is furious. The LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies; [3] The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked. The LORD has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet”. Nahum 1:14 says, “The LORD has given a command concerning you: “Your name shall be perpetuated no longer. Out of the house of your gods I will cut off the carved image and the molded image. I will dig your grave, For you are vile.”

Nahum 2:13  says, “Behold, I am against you,” says the LORD of hosts, “I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more.” In Nahum 3:18-19, God said, “Your shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria; Your nobles rest in the dust. Your people are scattered on the mountains, And no one gathers them. [19] Your injury has no healing, Your wound is severe. All who hear news of you Will clap their hands over you, For upon whom has not your wickedness passed continually?” Week 34 is a week of God’s vengeance.

Week 34 is a 34th chapters of the Bible week. The 34th chapters of the Bible indicate the 34th week is a season of recompense in the year. It is payback season. It is time to give back to people according to their works. In Genesis 34, Simeon and Levi, sons of Jacob took vengeance against the Shechemites for the rape of their sister, Dinah. God sets up the ungodly for destruction in the 34th season. In Exodus 34, God introduced Himself to Moses as One who though merciful and gracious will by no means clear the guilty. Exodus 34:5-7 says, “Now the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. [6] And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, [7] keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” Numbers 34 is about the divisions and boundaries of inheritance in promised land which Israel shall dispossess the Canaanites of. God takes away the inheritance of the ungodly in the 34th season. In Deuteronomy 34, Moses died and was buried, by God, in the land of Moab. The 34th season is for judgment against rebellion. In Second Chronicles 34, Josiah, as God’s agent, took vengeance against idolatry in Israel, in a swift reformation – to escape the visitation of divine wrath. 2 Chronicles 34:3-5 says, “For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images. [4] They broke down the altars of the Baals in his presence, and the incense altars which were above them he cut down; and the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images he broke in pieces, and made dust of them and scattered it on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them. [5] He also burned the bones of the priests on their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem”. 2 Chronicles 34:33 says, “Thus Josiah removed all the abominations from all the country that belonged to the children of Israel, and made all who were present in Israel diligently serve the LORD their God. All his days they did not depart from following the LORD God of their fathers”. The 34th season is a time to take steps to forestall heavenly reactions to ungodliness. 2 Chronicles 34:24-25 says, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Behold, I will bring calamity on this place and on its inhabitants, all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah, [25] because they have forsaken Me and burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the works of their hands. Therefore My wrath will be poured out on this place, and not be quenched.'” Job 34 reveals that God “repays man according to his work”. Job 34:10-11 says, “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: Far be it from God to do wickedness, And from the Almighty to commit iniquity. [11] For He repays man according to his work, And makes man to find a reward according to his way”. Job 34:24-28 says, “He breaks in pieces mighty men without inquiry, And sets others in their place. [25] Therefore He knows their works; He overthrows them in the night, And they are crushed. [26] He strikes them as wicked men In the open sight of others, [27] Because they turned back from Him, And would not consider any of His ways, [28] So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him; For He hears the cry of the afflicted” Psalms 34 says, “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. [16] The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. [17] The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. [18] The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. [19] Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. [20] He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken. [21] Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. [22] The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned” (Psalm 34:15-22).

Isaiah 34 is a proclamation of judgment against all nations; especially Edom. Isaiah 34:2-15 says, “For the indignation of the LORD is against all nations, And His fury against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to the slaughter. [3] Also their slain shall be thrown out; Their stench shall rise from their corpses, And the mountains shall be melted with their blood. [4] All the host of heaven shall be dissolved, And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll; All their host shall fall down As the leaf falls from the vine, And as fruit falling from a fig tree. [5] “For My sword shall be bathed in heaven; Indeed it shall come down on Edom, And on the people of My curse, for judgment. [6] The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, It is made overflowing with fatness, With the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom. [7] The wild oxen shall come down with them, And the young bulls with the mighty bulls; Their land shall be soaked with blood, And their dust saturated with fatness.” [8] For it is the day of the LORD’s vengeance, The year of recompense for the cause of Zion. [9] Its streams shall be turned into pitch, And its dust into brimstone; Its land shall become burning pitch. [10] It shall not be quenched night or day; Its smoke shall ascend forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste; No one shall pass through it forever and ever. [11] But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it, Also the owl and the raven shall dwell in it. And He shall stretch out over it The line of confusion and the stones of emptiness. [12] They shall call its nobles to the kingdom, But none shall be there, and all its princes shall be nothing. [13] And thorns shall come up in its palaces, Nettles and brambles in its fortresses; It shall be a habitation of jackals, A courtyard for ostriches. [14] The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the jackals, And the wild goat shall bleat to its companion; Also the night creature shall rest there, And find for herself a place of rest. [15] There the arrow snake shall make her nest and lay eggs And hatch, and gather them under her shadow; There also shall the hawks be gathered, Every one with her mate”.

Jeremiah 34 is God’s reaction to those who took back, into bondage, slaves they had freed: Jeremiah 34:17-22 says, “Therefore thus says the LORD: ‘You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother and every one to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim liberty to you,’ says the LORD-‘to the sword, to pestilence, and to famine! And I will deliver you to trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth. [18] And I will give the men who have transgressed My covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when they cut the calf in two and passed between the parts of it- [19] the princes of Judah, the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the parts of the calf- [20] I will give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. Their dead bodies shall be for meat for the birds of the heaven and the beasts of the earth. [21] And I will give Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes into the hand of their enemies, into the hand of those who seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army which has gone back from you. [22] Behold, I will command,’ says the LORD, ‘and cause them to return to this city. They will fight against it and take it and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without inhabitant.'”

Ezekiel 34 is prophecy against the shepherds of Israel who exploit God’s flock. Ezekiel 34:2-6,8,10 says, “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? [3] You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. [4] The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. [5] So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. [6] My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.” [8] “As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food for every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock”- [10] Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them.”

Week 34 is a Deuteronomy 26-30 week. The sixth five chapters of the fifth book of the Bible is applicable to sixth week in the fifth 49 days of the year. Deuteronomy 26-30 is about the blessings or curses that would come upon the people when they enter the Promised Land per their obedience or disobedience to God. In the 34th season, obedience attracts blessings while disobedience attracts curses.

In 1934, John Dillinger, tagged Public Enemy #1 was shot and killed by FBI agents on July 22. He was charged of robbing 24 banks and four police stations. Twice, he escaped from jail. He was so notorious that the US Department of Justice offered $25000 reward for him. Another notorious bank robber, Pretty Boy Floyd, was shot and killed by FBI agents three months later on October 22. The 34th season is a season of vengeance.

In 1994, the 34th year of Nigeria, the Abacha-led military regime arrested and imprisoned Moshood Abiola for treason because he set up a parallel government (as deprived winner of the 1993 presidential election) and declared himself head of the government of national unity. That was the beginning of the end of M.K.O Abiola’s earth-journey. He died in the prison four years later in 1998 (July 7).

The 34th president of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower took vengeance for the United States against segregationists. He fought forcefully for desegregation in public places. He used State military might against resistance to desegregation. The segregationists did not understand the times. The Eisenhower administration also labored vigorously to contain the Soviet Union and protect the world from the colonization of communist forces and ideology. The communist strong man, Josef Stalin, died in the second month of Ike’s presidency; on March 5, 1953. His successor, Georgy Malenkov, was ousted after six months in office; on September 8, 1953.

Within the 34th seven years of the United States, Barak the Obama administration took vengeance for the United States against Osama Bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda network. The strong man of Al-Qaeda was killed on May 2, 2011.  In the same year, on October 20, Muammar Ghadaffi, the strong man of Libya was killed in the ninth month of an armed revolution against his government. Both men did not position themselves well in America’s season of vengeance.

In the 34th week of 2019, a man hijacked a bus and the 37 people on board on a bridge in Rio de Janeiro. He became the strong man of the day for about four hours. That was all. He was shot dead by police sniper. The hostages came out unhurt. The hijacker misread the time and it cost him his life. The same week, a threatening fire sparked off in Amazon Rainforest region, ‘the lungs of the planet’.

The 34th week is Ephesians – Philemon season in the fifth 49 days of the year. Going through every seven-week season is like a journey through the Bible. The first four weeks is the Old Testament side of the seven-week season and expresses the 39 books of the Old Testament. The remaining three weeks (fifth, sixth, and seventh) constitute the New Testament side of the seven-week season and express the 27 books of the New Testament. The sixth week expresses the second 9 books of the New Testament. The second 9 books of the New Testament indicate that 34th week is time to prosper through receiving and following instructions. The second 9 books of the New Testament are mentoring books and they include the pastoral epistles of Paul. This is a week to be guided. Never go all by yourself.

This 34th week, may the Lord overthrow and wipe off everything that represents ancient wicked Nineveh in your world. May the Lord shield you from wrath by His wisdom, by the blood of the Lamb, and by His abundant mercy. This week, stay in alignment with God, listen to His Voice and trust Him to guide and deliver you from traps of foolishness, craftiness, and wickedness. Happy 34th week!
