Ngerians are known to be very resilient people. Many Nigerians have put the sad outcome of the 2023 Presidential Election behind them and are now dreaming and thinking about 2027. But things are changing in Nigeria. Life is getting harder and people can no longer keep quiet.
One question we should be asking is if there will be a presidential election in Nigeria in 2027? What is going to happen in 2027? Ecclesiastes 1:9 has a clue: “That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun”. Does that mean we should not expect change in 2027 or that 2027 will be a repeat of 2023? Not at all. It simply means that every season of man has a pattern that can help us to understand it. Seasons are cyclical and follow patterns. 2027 in Nigeria has a pattern.
It is possible to know what will happen in 2027 by the things we see happening in 2025 – Nigeria’s 65th year. We’ve been here before.Pay attention to this: In 1965, the Western Region was boiling. It was about the conflict between Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola. In our 65th year, Rivers State is boiling; and it is about conflict between Nyesom Wike and his successor Similaiye Fubara. Nigeria is at war and we need to understand the nature of this war. We are at war with the Jebusites who are occupying the STRONGHOLD and proudly believe they cannot be conquered. We are also at war with the Philistines – strangers who want to possess what is not theirs. Why Jebusites and Philistines? We are journeying through the 10th seven years of our independence and the 10th book of the Bible (2 Samuel) is our guiding light. In our 65th, we are in 2 Samuel 5-8.
Could it be that what happened in Nigeria in 1965 contributed to what happened in 1966? I believe it did. So, it is important to ask if the things happening in the 65th year of Nigeria shape or affect our 66th year? I also believe it will.
People who do not know their seasons are in danger of becoming victims of their seasons. Ecclesiastes 9:12 says, “For man also does not know his time: Like fish taken in a cruel net, Like birds caught in a snare, So the sons of men are snared in an evil time, When it falls suddenly upon them”.
In 1966, Nigeria experienced two bloody coups and the end of her first Republic. Will the fourth Republic survive our 66th year? If what we experienced in 1965 has returned in our 65th year, we need to watch carefully so that what happened in 1966 will not return in our 66th year. Let us also pray that what happened in Nigeria in 1967 will not return in 2027 – our 67th year. Seasons follow patterns.
Why should we be concerned about the 66th year of Nigeria? Here are 6 reasons:
- It’s very close. It begins October 1, 2025.
- It will be a game-changing year in our 10th seven years.
- It will be a season of intense spiritual warfare between the forces of good and evil.
- The spirit of death will be on rampage in Nigeria.
- It will be a year of judgmental overthrows.
- It is a book of Revelation year in Nigeria and will seek to make an end of the OLD and cause the birthing of somerhing NEW.
